Amy Kaempf is proudly serving her first year on the Para Cup Host Committee in the medical role. A dedicated community member, Amy joined the board out of her passion for volunteering and giving back. She believes that while committee work can be time-consuming, good time management—daily lists and helpful reminders—makes it all possible.

Amy is especially looking forward to meeting the athletes and experiencing the energy of para hockey firsthand. For her, the best part of events like this is the incredible excitement shared by the athletes, fans, and community.

Christina Wards has been an integral part of the Para Cup Host Committee since its inception in 2009, serving in the Game Operations role. Her journey began through her involvement with junior hockey, which led to her being invited to join the committee—a role she’s embraced ever since.

Though serving on the committee can be time-consuming, Christina’s semi-retired lifestyle and strong organizational skills allow her to manage the demands with ease. She’s especially looking forward to the upcoming Para Cup, where she’s excited to see the game in action and learn more about the adaptations and setup unique to para hockey.

With deep roots in the sport—her whole family played hockey—Christina finds the most rewarding part of hosting Hockey Canada events is watching the athletes grow and move on to bigger and better opportunities. She loves following their journeys and cheering them on as they rise through the ranks.

Kim Buchan is proudly serving as the Chairwoman of the Para Cup Host Committee in her second year on the board. With a lifelong passion for hockey and years of hands-on involvement in the sport, Kim was honoured to be invited to join the committee and help bring national events to her community.

For Kim, being involved is more than just a role—it's an opportunity to give back and be a part of something meaningful in Dawson Creek. While serving as Chair can be time-consuming, she credits her success to staying organized with daily task lists and the support of an incredible team.

Kim looks forward to welcoming the athletes and expanding her understanding of the para sport world. Her favourite part of hosting Hockey Canada events is sharing in the energy and excitement with the community, and continuously learning through each event experience.

Hockey has always been a big part of Kim’s life—her family is deeply rooted in the sport, with her sons competing as high-level athletes and logging countless miles on the road for the game.

Pam Eales – Director of Logistics

Pam Eales has proudly served as the Director of Logistics for the Para Cup Host Committee for 15 years. She first got involved after being “voluntold” by friends working at the City of Dawson Creek, and she’s been dedicated ever since.

Though committee work can be time-consuming, Pam’s hyper-organization and talent for finding the right volunteers make it all possible. She looks forward to learning more about para sports and watching the incredible athletes compete.

Pam’s favourite part of hosting Hockey Canada events is making new friends and sharing in the excitement of each unique event — every tournament has its special moments. One of her favourite memories is from the Women’s U18 event, when she raced two athletes all the way to Grande Prairie to make sure they didn’t miss their flight.

Hockey runs deep in her family, with every member having played the game.

Ivea Armstrong - Director of Volunteers

Ivea Armstrong joined the host committee in 2023 after being recruited for the National Women’s U18 Hockey Championship. Now in her second year as Director of Volunteers, Ivea brings dedication, warmth, and a true passion for community involvement to her role.

Retired and active in her community, Ivea finds volunteering a fulfilling way to spend her time. What she looks forward to most during Hockey Canada events is watching the athletes compete—and, when possible, meeting them and hearing their inspiring stories.

Her favourite part of hosting Hockey Canada events is the connection it creates among people. During the 2023 championship, she was deeply moved by how volunteers from Dawson Creek, Chetwynd, Tumbler Ridge, and beyond came together to support the event and celebrate the athletes.

Hockey holds a special place in Ivea’s heart, especially as three of her grandchildren currently play at various levels. Watching their growth in the sport has shown her how hockey can open up a world of opportunity and bring people together in meaningful ways.

Tracy Cox - Director of Logistics

Tracy Cox is proud to join the Para Cup Host Committee for the first time, bringing with her a deep-rooted passion for hockey and community spirit. Previously a dedicated team host during the U18 Women’s National Championship, Tracy is no stranger to the behind-the-scenes efforts that make Hockey Canada events a success.

A self-proclaimed list lover and master of multiple calendars, Tracy balances her volunteer commitments by staying organized and sticking to a solid schedule. As she and her husband embrace life as empty nesters, she’s excited to invest her time into events that bring energy and excitement to the community.

Growing up in a hockey arena and surrounded by the game—her dad, brothers, husband, and son all played—Tracy’s favourite part of Hockey Canada events is seeing how her small town rallies together to make big things happen.
