Amy Kaempf is proudly serving her first year on the Para Cup Host Committee in the medical role. A dedicated community member, Amy joined the board out of her passion for volunteering and giving back. She believes that while committee work can be time-consuming, good time management—daily lists and helpful reminders—makes it all possible.
Amy is especially looking forward to meeting the athletes and experiencing the energy of para hockey firsthand. For her, the best part of events like this is the incredible excitement shared by the athletes, fans, and community.
Christina Wards has been an integral part of the Para Cup Host Committee since its inception in 2009, serving in the Game Operations role. Her journey began through her involvement with junior hockey, which led to her being invited to join the committee—a role she’s embraced ever since.
Though serving on the committee can be time-consuming, Christina’s semi-retired lifestyle and strong organizational skills allow her to manage the demands with ease. She’s especially looking forward to the upcoming Para Cup, where she’s excited to see the game in action and learn more about the adaptations and setup unique to para hockey.
With deep roots in the sport—her whole family played hockey—Christina finds the most rewarding part of hosting Hockey Canada events is watching the athletes grow and move on to bigger and better opportunities. She loves following their journeys and cheering them on as they rise through the ranks.
Kim Buchan is proudly serving as the Chairwoman of the Para Cup Host Committee in her second year on the board. With a lifelong passion for hockey and years of hands-on involvement in the sport, Kim was honoured to be invited to join the committee and help bring national events to her community.
For Kim, being involved is more than just a role—it's an opportunity to give back and be a part of something meaningful in Dawson Creek. While serving as Chair can be time-consuming, she credits her success to staying organized with daily task lists and the support of an incredible team.
Kim looks forward to welcoming the athletes and expanding her understanding of the para sport world. Her favourite part of hosting Hockey Canada events is sharing in the energy and excitement with the community, and continuously learning through each event experience.
Hockey has always been a big part of Kim’s life—her family is deeply rooted in the sport, with her sons competing as high-level athletes and logging countless miles on the road for the game.
