MAYORAL DEBATE - CITY OF DAWSON CREEK MUNICIPAL ELECTION

Co-op Mercer Hall at the Ovintiv Events Centre will be a co-operative of municipal discussion on September 29, 2022 - if you’d like to see Dawson Creek mayoral hopefuls in a debate setting and environment.

The Dawson Creek Mirror presents a mayor candidate panel discussion/ debate September 29, 2022 in Co-op Mercer Hall at the Ovintiv Events Centre.

Doors at 6:30 pm, with mayoral candidates taking the stage at approximately 7:00pm.

Dawson Creek councillors Darcy Dober and Shaely Wilbur are both currently running in the race for mayor of Dawson Creek. Both are confirmed for the event.

Subsequent candidates for mayor are also invited to attend.

The evening will be hosted by the Dawson Creek Mirror, and moderated by the newspaper’s managing editor Rob Brown, who has hosted both DC candidate and mayoral debates in 2018, as well as throughout the South Peace, and western Canada in his 24 year career in journalism.

“Each of these evenings have always resulted in a great night of open discussion, and this one should be even more enlightening, as we get to know our candidates a bit better, as well as learn about their thoughts on a range of municipal issues," he says.

"We will of course attempt our live feed, as we did in 2018 for those who cannot attend in person, says Brown.

“If the live feed doesn’t happen for technical reasons – we will certainly have a video recording of the evening later in the night for those who missed attending in person.”

The public can enter Co-op Mercer Hall through the lower lobby doors of the Ovintiv Events Centre which are located adjacent to the Kenn Borek Aquatic Centre entrance.

“We are always looking for other community sponsors to climb on board to make the event even better.”

Doors at 6:30pm, with candidates taking the stage at approximately 7:00pm.
