Over $4000 Raised for Canadian Red Cross

Published: Jun 8, 2016

Spectra by Comcast Spectacor, the provider of Venue Management, Food Services & Hospitality and Ticketing & Fan Engagement to the Encana Events Centre in Dawson Creek, British Columbia, is proud to support the Canadian Red Cross in their efforts in Alberta and British Columbia for the recent wildfires in Fort McMurray and any future incidents.

Through a donation page that was launched though the venue’s ticketing online box offices, powered by Spectra Ticketing & Fan Engagement and in-house promotions, Spectra’s fans and partners helped raise over $4,000 in May for the Canadian Red Cross. Most of these funds were for the Alberta Fire Appeals and will help the recovery efforts by the Canadian Red Cross in Fort McMurray.  The remaining funds will be headed towards the BC Wild Fire Fund.

“In the past year, Spectra by Comcast Spectacor has helped over 50 local charities raise over $30,000 throughout Dawson Creek, so when we saw what was going on in our neighbouring province of Alberta and the community of Fort McMurray, we knew we could lend a hand and have our fans, partners and customers join us in this effort,” said Spectra’s Ryan MacIvor, General Manager, Encana Events Centre. “We could not have done this work without the support of our corporate partners.”

Shortly after launching the service in Dawson Creek, Spectra by Comcast Spectacor introduced and implemented similar drives at its other Canadian properties in Windsor, Hamilton, London, Oshawa and Toronto.

Spectra is no stranger to giving back when the need arises. Spectra Venue Management in Canada works with local non-profit and community groups in each of their communities.  Community initiatives have ranged from donations to local food banks, to hosting events to fundraise for groups such as The United Way, Heart & Stroke Foundation, and many others.  Spectra created a similar donation campaign for the Tsongas Center at UMass Lowell after the bombings that occurred in Boston during the Boston Marathon.
