The City of Dawson Creek is pleased to announce an 11 year extension of the facility management services agreement with Spectra by Comcast Spectacor for the operations of the Encana Events Centre. This contract will see the 3 different divisions of Spectra – Venue Management, Ticketing & Fan Engagement and Food Services & Hospitality – continue to build on the success of the past 8 years.

“I continue to be wowed by Spectra’s management team at each event that is hosted at the Encana Events Centre and the high caliber of artists and entertainment we are able to see right here in Dawson Creek,” said Dale Bumstead, Mayor of Dawson Creek. “Understanding the trends of our recreational and community needs will provide us opportunity to increase public good within the current and unfinished spaces within the Encana Event Centre. Blending this new approach with world class concerts and events will continue to set us apart from every other community in Northern British Columbia.”

The extended agreement between the City of Dawson Creek and Spectra by Comcast Spectacor now runs through December 31, 2027.

BACKGROUNDER

Spectra by Comcast Spectacor, formerly Global Spectrum has operated the Encana Events Centre since 2008. The new 11 year contract will see the Encana Events Centre increase community access including extending the days and/or hours of the Wayne and Bev Dahlen Walking Track and to continue to foster and develop relationships with local and regional organizations.

The contract will see the Encana Events Centre continue to grow its presence and work with organizations such as Tourism Dawson Creek to continue to be the ‘Events Capital of the Peace’ and to remain competitive in the events industry. As a supporter of the community, the Centre will continue with a ‘Local First’ mentality for opportunities with local businesses and organizations.

Spectra by Comcast Spectacor has improved operations at the Encana Events Centre through capital improvements, upgrades to the fan and performer experience, enhanced event bookings, corporate partnerships, marketing and promotions. Through the next 11 years, Spectra plans to ensure that the facility is preserved and properly maintained, client and patron needs satisfied and the continued growth of community opportunities.
