CBC and the Tragically Hip presents “The Tragically Hip: A National Celebration”: Screening party, hosted by the Encana Events Centre.

Join the Encana Events Centre as we host a viewing party of The Tragically Hip and the Kingston stop of the Man Machine Poem Tour on Saturday, August 20. Doors open at 4:30PM.

This event is free and open to the public but a ticket is required for entry. Tickets are available at the Tiger Box Office Plus at the Encana Events Centre or at Tiger Printing & Stationers, online at www.tigerboxofficeplus.ca or by phone at 1-877-339-8499. Tickets will only be available to be picked up directly at the box office, left at WILL CALL for pickup or a Print at Home ticket that is emailed will be available.

Tickets will be available for the floor as general admission. To create a festival feel to the event, the Centre asks patrons to BYOC – Bring Your Own Chair as the floor will be open to all types of seating or standing. The Centre will provide seats to any patrons requesting one. Reserved seating tickets will be available in the stands.

The Encana Events Centre hosted The Tragically Hip here in Dawson Creek on July 12, 2011 with guests The Trews and with the Viewing Party on August 20, the Centre will feature photos and other memorabilia from the 2011 show for public viewing. The event will also feature other fun fan features like selfie stations, a silent auction including merchandise from the Man Machine Poem tour and other items. All proceeds from this event will support the Gord Downie Fund for Brain Cancer at the Sunnybrook Foundation.

With changes with the British Columbia Liquor Law, the Encana Events Centre will be offering alcohol available to be purchased at the event including beer, coolers and spirits.  Spectra Food Services & Hospitality will have many options available for both food and non-alcohol choices at the event. Joining the Encana Events Centre in celebration of this event will be Menchie’s Frozen Yogurt who will offer 2 flavours including Nutella and Blue Blast Sorbet for sale during the screening.

The National Celebration event will feature a special Snapchat filter, official merchandise from the Man Machine Poem tour will be available to purchase, and some framed prints from the 2011 show are up for silent auction. All proceeds from the silent auction and any donations collected at the event will support the Gord Downie Fund for Brain Cancer at the Sunnybrook Foundation.
