Dawson Creek Secondary School (DCSS) is proud to host Olympian Jon Montgomery at Unchagah Hall on January 21, 2016 as a fundraising event for the DCSS Athletics program.  This event will feature a live auction with Montgomery being the auctioneer.

Tickets are priced at 55.00 plus applicable fees.  Tickets may be purchased online at www.tigerboxofficeplus.ca by phone at 1-877-339-8499, and in person at the 2 Tiger Box Office Plus locations at the Encana Events Centre and at Tiger Printing & Stationers.

Jon Montgomery was not an athlete, he was an auctioneer and worked in the automobile industry but one trip to the Canada Olympic Park in 2002 with his parents and he was determined to participate in the Skeleton sport.  He did not do well his first bat at the sport but after winning two silver medals at the 2008 FIBT World Championships, finishing second overall at the 2007-08 Skelton World Cup he went on to qualify for the 2010 Winter Olympics.

At the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, Jon won his race beating out his closest opponent by 7/100^th of a second to win the gold. Montgomery celebrated that win by marching through Whistler singing the national anthem.

Turning his charisma into other opportunities, Jon has since gone on to become the host of CTV’s Amazing Race Canada.  He has been the host for the past three seasons and will continue on to host the show for a fourth year. 

Jon has kept his eyes wide open, while living outside his comfort zone to try new things and accepting the challenges that present themselves in his life.  Through this, he was able to find his passion and opportunities to realize his dreams of being on Canada’s National Team.  His story will inspire people to go after what they are looking for.

All funds that will be raised from the event and the auction will be used to fund the DCSS Athletic program and costs of participating in tournaments.  The Athletic Program consists of such sports as Basketball, Volleyball, Track, Cross Country, Rugby, Soccer and more.  All together there are 15 teams that will benefit from these funds.
